Remnants

These pieces embody my ‘use it up’ philosophy. Think of them as squeezing out every ounce of my creative juices, which serve as a transition to my workflow. The beginning or end of a work session can be tricky for any artist when you are staring down the end of one project and the empty canvases surrounding you. They are called remnants because each mini-masterpiece is scavenged from my dried artist palettes. Using a small viewfinder, I scan for tiny thumbnails, each a hidden gem nestled in the patches of dried paint. Once snipped, I tape them next to my canvas and finish off the remains of my mixed paints. Sometimes, they come quickly, in a single afternoon, but are often reworked until they become something entirely new.
